WooCommerce 11.2.0 was released on October 7, 2026, followed by the 11.2.1 fix release on October 9. It is a practical update with real benefits for shop owners: smarter product imports, date fields at checkout, configurable emails, faster admin screens and several security fixes. Here are the WooCommerce 11.2 new features every store owner should know, plus what might look different after you update.
WooCommerce 11.2 at a Glance
According to the official WooCommerce 11.2.0 release notes, this version is backwards compatible but includes a database update. The release included 642 pull requests from 93 contributors. The main highlights are:
- Product CSV importer matching by GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN.
- Date fields in the Additional Checkout Fields API.
- Configurable order withdrawal emails.
- More styling options for several blocks, including sticky Product Filters.
- Performance improvements and security fixes.
1. Smarter Product CSV Imports
If your supplier sends price sheets with barcodes but no SKUs, this one is for you. With Update existing products turned on, the CSV importer now matches each row by ID, then SKU, then a global unique ID: GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN.
The import is also safer. According to the pre-release notes, a non-blank identifier that matches nothing now skips the row instead of creating a new product. A match with a different product type is refused, so an update cannot silently change a product’s type. Import cleanup also no longer runs site-wide deletes that could slow down small imports on big catalogs.
2. Ask for a Date at Checkout
The Additional Checkout Fields API now supports date fields. If your store uses the Checkout block, you can ask shoppers for things like a preferred delivery date or a birthday.
- Shoppers use their phone’s or browser’s own date picker.
- You can limit the dates they can choose, for example from tomorrow to the next 30 days.
- Emails and order details show dates in your site’s date format.
Note that adding the field takes a short code snippet, and it works with the Checkout block, not the classic checkout shortcode.
3. Configurable Order Withdrawal Emails
For stores that sell to customers in the EU, WooCommerce now includes two configurable emails for order withdrawal requests: an acknowledgment for the customer and a notification for the store. You can manage both under WooCommerce > Settings > Emails, including recipients, extra content, previews and whether each email is enabled.
4. Faster Catalog and Admin Screens
The WooCommerce merchant update highlights several speed gains:
- You can reorder products whether your catalog has 5 or 50,000 items.
- Stores with variable products load and check out faster.
- Report totals load with fewer database queries, and their memory use no longer grows with customer count.
5. Sticky Filters and New Block Styles
Turn on sticky positioning for the Product Filters block, and filters stay visible as shoppers scroll a long category page. Several other blocks got new style options too:
- Quantity selectors, including in the cart: borders, shadows, colors and rounded corners.
- Product images: borders.
- Filter chips: font and spacing controls, plus rounded corners.
You can set these once for the whole store under Appearance > Editor > Styles > Blocks, or adjust them block by block. If you use a classic or page-builder theme instead of a block theme, your theme’s own WooCommerce styling may still control these areas. Themes such as Betheme, with its WooCommerce Builder, and The7, with its Elementor WooCommerce widgets, have their own shop design tools.
6. Security Fixes
WooCommerce recommends updating all stores to 11.2 because it includes security improvements. Key changes include:
- Account emails: Cc and Bcc recipients can no longer be set for the Reset password, New account and Confirm email address emails, because they contain login or verification links.
- Downloadable products: download authorization was strengthened by rejecting malformed order and email credentials.
- Shop managers can no longer edit users who also hold certain other, more privileged roles.
- Multisite Blueprints: importing Blueprints now requires network super admin rights.
What Might Look Different After You Update
- If you were copying yourself on password reset or new account emails, those copies will stop.
- Standard download links work as before, but a rare custom or imported link with malformed data may stop working. If a customer reports one, reissue the link from the order.
- Shop managers may lose the ability to edit some users with extra roles, such as forum or membership roles. An admin can still edit them.
What Was Fixed in 11.2.1?
WooCommerce 11.2.1, released on October 9, 2026, fixed regressions in classic checkout address fields and postcode validation. If you updated to 11.2.0, make sure you are on 11.2.1 or later.
How to Update WooCommerce Safely
- Take a full backup. This release includes a database update, so a backup is essential. Our UpdraftPlus backup guide shows you how, and UpdraftPlus Premium adds automatic backups before updates.
- Test on staging if your store uses many extensions or custom code.
- Update during quiet hours to reduce the risk to live orders.
- Run the database update when WooCommerce prompts you.
- Test checkout with a real or test order, and check emails.
Also keep WordPress itself up to date. See our post on the WordPress 7.1.3 update for the latest core security fixes.
Final Thoughts
WooCommerce 11.2 is not a flashy release, but it solves real everyday problems: barcode-based imports, delivery dates at checkout, faster admin screens and important security fixes. Back up, update to 11.2.1 or later, and test your checkout. Your store will be faster and safer for it.
